“Sculpture is to art as poetry is to literature.
An intensity of feelings and emotions, skilfully refined and defined
until all that remains is a single image, in its purest and most compelling form.”
Lynne Sproule
Residing on a small horse farm in rural Cannington Ontario with her husband
and two childeren, Lynnes’s art is inspired by a lifetime spent pursuing
various equestrian disciplines. Breeding and training hunter horses and
ponies has provided an endless opportunity to study these magnificent
animals both at work and at play.
As an artist, I challenge myself to capture those intangible qualities which
transport the viewer into the “heat of the moment”. Which allow them to
experience the majesty, intelligence, and raw power of the creatures I am
portraying. The very nature of sculpture lends itself to viewer
participation and interaction. If I, the artist have been successful, the
audience will be compelled to explore the work from its many surfaces, to
appreciate the play of light and shadow upon the contoured surface and be
carried along by its fluidity of motion. It is my desire as an artist to
portray, not only an anatomical correctness of the figure, but to accurately
express its spirit or essence, that quality which makes it unique and
compelling and which inspired me to further explore and pay tribute to it.
“Sculpture exists without benefit of backgrounds and foregrounds, of vibrant colours and framed in settings, Visible from all angles, sculpture stands alone.”
